More Norwegian aid to Lebanon and Gaza

Strangely Familiar or Familiarly Strange?


The Norwegian Government has granted another NOK 200 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Gaza. This comes in addition to NOK 100 million allocated last Saturday. - The international society must rally, and quickly, says Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg has this week been in contact with both Lebanon's president Fuad Siniora, and the Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas.

Both asked Norway for further funds to lessen the sufferings of the civilian population. An increasing number of Lebanese is now without water, food and medicines.

The Norwegian Prime Minister underlines that the humanitarian situation for the Lebanese people is dramatic and that it may develop into an extensive and long-lasting crisis, and that the Lebanese for years to come will suffer from the effects of today's destructions.

The Prime Minister also draws attention to the many Palestinians who are living under inhuman conditions.
